FoldingAtHome is a scientific research organization, not a game. It requires many, many hours of continuous computing so you can't expect to watch it happen. If you run PocketScience on you phone for a couple of hours, you can expect to see zero progress. To complete a single work assignment, you'll need to run PocketScience overnight while recharging your battery for a week or more to complete a single assignment. Yes, that assignment will contribute to scientific research, but the results are a very small part of a very big project and you won't have fun watching it happen.

It doesn't work... Stuck on preparing engine... Then crashes... Happens on multiple types of phones

As others mentioned, the installation loops repeatedly with no error message.

Extremely disappointed, booted up old phone I no longer used, installed and looped through downloading, installing, starting again and again for the entire day. Would really appreciate if app was published in a working state.

About this app

PocketScience is a revolutionary Android app by Neocortix that allows you to volunteer your phone’s processor to help with medical research. You can participate in the Folding@home (https://foldingathome.org) or Rosetta@home (https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/) projects, which perform Protein Folding research on many serious diseases.

We only run when you are connected to WiFi and plugged into your charger, so we don’t use up your cellular data plan or run down your battery. We don’t have access to your personal information like photos, videos, or phone calls, and we don’t use your precise location. We don’t show ads or collect information about you for advertising purposes.

Just download the app and choose which project (Folding@home or Rosetta) you want to contribute to. Click on the “Name” field to register your account with the project, so that you can check on your accumulated contributions. The next time you connect to WiFi and plug in your charger, your device will ask the servers for work to do, and then start working on it. You can disconnect WiFi or charger any time; the work will be paused until you re-connect to WiFi and charger.

You can install PocketScience on as many phones as you like. Spare phones which are always plugged in and connect to WiFi are especially valuable for Folding@home and Rosetta.

Sorry, emulated devices and rooted devices are not permitted. Devices must meet certain requirements. If our other app, PhonePaycheck is also installed on the device, PocketScience will give you a warning message, and will not run unless you uninstall PhonePaycheck.
