I love having Alexa, using its various functions and the Alexa-compatible devices I own. But the system is as buggy as it is useful. Alexa's performance is inconsistent, especially with my Fire TV. (And, no, it's not the TV.) Alexa has a long way to go before it's conversational and as efficient at retrieving data as Google Assistant. I think Amazon's A.I. will get there eventually. But it's not there yet and can be extremely frustrating (especially when stuck with a TV remote with no numbers).

This app is amazing for many many things. But on Android there are still a few things that could be improved. Especially notifications. It bugs me to have to turn notifications off and on in order to clear them from my phone's notification center. Also, don't like the fact that I have to redo my child's list of contacts to call and certain settings just because I switched her to a new echo dot. I would love this app to especially remember the contacts on my kids list.

I am only using this for two things. I use it to control lights that have various smart plugs, and I have Alexa read my Kindle books to me. As far as the light controller, it's great. But I really struggle with the other, because If you offer that service, which is REALLY AMAZING in theory, why make it so difficult?? It should keep reading a book and not have to keep my screen on, offer a sleep timer, and it should not suck so much battery! I'm thankful when it works, but it just shuts off!

This app has negatively impacted my phone's battery life. I use Echo Frames which does require a constant connection, so I understand it will drain some. Prior to the most recent update, I could expect ~15%-20% loss throughout the day. After the update, I lost 41% in less than a day to this app alone. That aside, the app does that it claims. It's a functional tool and I use it frequently.

It's not too bad when it works. Lots of problems and bugs though. Family accounts have problems, you have to log in as the main account holder to get full access to smart device management, thereby negating the whole point of separate logins. I know the Amazon music is a different app, but obviously they go hand in hand and it also has a ton of problems, such as albums disappearing if you add a song to one of your playlists and the search feature not handling artists with the same name.

I use Alexa throughout the day! She reminds me of events on my calendar, tells me what's in the news and is great at helping me time items I'm cooking. One of the newest things I've discovered she can do is read to me. I download books on my tablet and ask Alexa to read them. Amazing! Not as great at voice differentiation as Audible but there is no limit to the number of books I can have Alexa read to me each month and there is no additional cost. I can read/listen and knit at the same time!
