JC는 ‘Junior Chamber’의 약자로서 1915년 미국 미주리주 세인트루이스에서 어린이에게 공원을 만들어 교통사고의 발생을 막고 지역사회의 각종 문제점들을 해결해야겠다는 헨리 기젠비어의 숭고한 창시 이념에 의해 시작되었습니다. 이후 JC는 20세 이상 42세 이하의 청년이 개인능력개발, 사회능력개발, 지역사회개발, 국제경험개발이란 4대 활동기회를 부여하는 국제민간단체로 발전, 청년회원들이 지닌 잠재력을 개발하고, 지역사회 개발 및 세계회원 국가와 활발한 교류를 통하여 세계 평화와 인류 번영을 이루는데 기여하고 있습니다.
사단법인 한국청년회의소(한국JC)는 2012년 창립 60주년을 맞이하는 동안 한국전쟁 이후 수 없이 많은 격변기를 거치는 동안 ‘조국의 미래, 청년의 책임’이라는 사명감으로 보다 나은 미래를 위해 청년의 역할을 충실히 해왔습니다. 한국JC가 배출한 수많은 젊은 기업가들이 경제성장의 힘찬 동력이 되었고, 한국JC를 통해 성장한 청년리더들은 대한민국의 정치와 사회 발전을 이끌었습니다. 한국JC의 60년은 대한민국 발전의 역사입니다.
