It's sad what Microsoft has done to cortana, lobotomized version of her, makes me sad back in 2015 if you asked her if she was better than siri, she used to say "not to brag but ill be saving the universe in about 3000 years" not to long after they changed it to "that's a tough one, it's like comparing apples to windows" that was the turning point and showed Microsoft didn't wanna have fun with cortana but make her just as generic as siri back in 2015

After my Samsung S5 I moved over to Windows phones and loved them. Stable, easy to use and just worked great. Sadly that all ended and I moved over to Android again which I hate, a behemoth of things I dont need. I therefore installed Cortana, which worked suberbly on Windows phones, but not very good on Android which is a real shame. It's still much more accurate than Google Assistant and works great dictating text, but it's now much too slow and doesn't intergrate well with the Android system.

Great for the assistant features, but it keeps turning on the setting for putting a floating Cortana widget on my home screen no matter how many times I turn it off. It's Hey Cortana feature also doesn't seem to work from anywhere other than the app itself, unlike Hey Google. It works nicely with Outlook, but the Android experience is pretty poor so far, unfortunately.

For people who can't get cortana to open from long pressing home. Turn off cortana on home screen in the settings. That worked for me. I can't get it too respond to hey cortana on any phone and not sure why Microsoft is ditching this gem. Although coming from a pixel device I can say the Google assistant works and responds well on them. Would have loved to give Microsoft a try and support the ecosystem. Recently switched to windows launcher and wanted the whole Microsoft experience Kinda bummed

Microsoft letting cortana degrade to the point where they pull the plug is embarassing. It shows their lack of vision and commitment to their users. Their lack of vision is why they will keep losing marketshare to apple and now google chrome. If you look at apple and chrome they have full ecosystems and their assistant is a main driver for growth and computing outside of the pc. Yet here we have microsoft once again abandoning a good product along with their customers.

True love. I need cortana to be able to voice recognition in my car like my windows phone. I never needed to touch my phone, I just called her up (she had a phone #) and I asked for directions or most importantly, used voice recognition to dictate text messages. It's a safety issue :)
