This app works as intended. For anyone reading the low star reviews, this is because their device WiFi chip doesn't support WiFi RTT. This is an essential requirement for this to work. For example, my Sony XZ Premium will not work, despite Android 9. Neither does my Sony XA2 Running LOS (A10). Neither have RTT support. However, both Pixel 3a and 5 work fine as both support this function. Developer probably should mention this, as not all hardware support it (802.11mc).

Works as described. (with some devices) I don't understand why people give 1 star reviews when it's their phone that doest support the app. One could simply uninstall the app and move on. I have 3 budget devices and 2 work with this app as intended. Example, the Moto G8 power didn't work. The Blu G90 pro did. Both run Android 10. On the two phones that work with the app, I honestly thibk, with a little work, this may be the future of device to device sharing.

I experienced the app crash once clicked the subscribe button. Will be testing the app more thoroughly so as to find out new bugs. But it's a pretty good initiative.

Will publish from Pixel 3 to a subscribed Galaxy S9 ...message sent and received, however range crashes app. From Galaxy S9 to Pixel 3 publish immediately crashes... It'll be great soon!

It seems to be a good app. The distance feature is good and a unique one can't find such feature in any other such app.

Send Message is working fine but Range feature has issues and crashing here and there on pixel as well as on samsung devices.

About this app

The WifiNanScan app measures the distance between two smartphones using the Wi-Fi Aware protocol (also called Neighborhood Aware Networking(NAN)). It’s designed as a research, demonstration, and testing tool for developers, vendors, universities, and more. With this app it is possible to obtain a distance measurement with a precision of about 1 meter with phones up to 15 meters apart. Developers, OEMs and researchers can use this tool to validate distance/range measurements enabling the development of peer-to-peer ranging and data transfer, find my phone and context-aware applications based on the WiFi Aware/NAN API. (See also WifiRttScan.) Your phone must be a model/OS that supports WiFi RTT for this app to function.
