Poor privacy. I selected the option to clear all private data on exit, 'restore tabs' option set to 'don't restore' and even after quitting using the Quit option from the menu the next time I restarted the app it loaded the page I was at the last time I visited. If devs are this incompetent this app is not to be trusted.

REALLY slow, and I don't mean the connection, since that's fine for Tor, I mean the app itself - it hangs literally on every click for like 10 seconds before it even begins doing what it was supposed to do upon that click. More like anti-rageclicking patience training app than a browser.

Better than "Tor Browser", but still buggy and very crashy and slow (not the network, I know what I am talking about. The app is slow). Alternative (better): Use Termux (or even better: Terminal Emulator for Android) and install tor: `pkg install tor`. Configure: `nano ../usr/etc/tor/torrc` and run it: `tor`. Then install Firefox and in about:config set proxy to your selected tor socks5 server (defined in torrc file, deafult is 127.0.0.1:9050). Install a script blocking plugin in firefox. etc.!

on Reddit i click the links to the same subreddit to tell the browser to refresh the page so i don't have to use the browser menu. Orfox highlights the link but does nothing else. i can long press and it offers to open the link in a new window so it knows it's a link but yet it doesn't go anywhere when i click it normally. unacceptable. it needs to follow the link even if the URL is the same as the current page just like a desktop browser does. it should cause a page refresh.

A great privacy browser. I use it to foil trackers and data collection rather than critical personal privacy. But this app supports both modes of use equally well it appears. Make sure you use it by enabling all the additional security, you'll find the internet is somewhat faster in some cases, and in conjunction with Orbot (I use the "keep alive" mode or Orbot).

Wonderful browser. However, you should know using TOR on android is not bullet proof. Android is probably the least secure operating system for staying anonymous, it's even less secure than windows. Google, your government, your phones manufacturer, and your cell service provider all surveil mobile TOR usage and likely have backdoors that allow them to view the keyboard inputs, what their screen is showing, and more, thus completely deanonymizing the users activity. Don't trust android or google

About this app

Since 2015, Orfox has been the only mobile app recommended by the Tor Project to utilize the privacy protections of Tor on Android. The Tor Project has launched an official browser, Tor Browser for Android, now in its alpha release. Orfox will be sunsetted by early 2019 when the stable Tor Browser for Android comes out. To experience real private browsing without tracking, surveillance, or censorship, download Tor Browser for Android from GooglePlay: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.torproject.torbrowser_alpha
Or direct from our site: https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en#android

---

Orfox is built from the same source code as Tor Browser (which is built upon Firefox), but with a few minor modifications to the privacy enhancing features to make them compatible with Firefox for Android and the Android operating system.

Orfox REQUIRES Orbot app for Android to connect to the Tor network.

In as many ways as possible, we adhere to the design goals of Tor Browser (https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser/design/), by supporting as much of their actual code as possible, and extending their work into the additional Android components of Firefox for Android.

** Also, includes NoScript and HTTPSEverywhere add-ons built in!

The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked.
