The Union Critical Alert System (U.C.A.S.) is a mobile app designed to gives labor union leaders the opportunity to get important information to their membership in a quick and efficient manner and affords the members the same platform for relaying information from the field back to leadership.
The U.C.A.S. provides a platform to transmit information between officials and users through the use of push notifications. Users simply download the free app from their Apple App Store or Google Play Store and register as a user. When signing up the user will select the union they represent and their position, whether it be administrative or journeyman.
When finished, union leadership will be able to send flash notifications to members in the field and they, in turn, will be able to relay information about such things as organizing opportunities and non-union job sites back to their leaders.
Also, as we are well aware, drug and alcohol addiction has reached epidemic proportions in our country as has the number of suicides. The U.C.A.S. provides a link where any trade union member who is dealing with addiction or is struggling with suicidal thoughts, they can contact licensed professional for help and their reaching out is held in the strictest confidence.
There is also links on the app where members can receive news affecting unions, locally and nationally; links to government and union websites and OSHA. With U.C.A.S. it is easy to stay informed.
Currently there is no quick and secure messaging system in place for labor unions to communicate vital information between leadership and the rank and file, the U.C.A.S. mobile application serves as a valuable tool in the dissemination of information in a timely fashion.
