Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Tradfri Lux - for IKEA TRÅDFRI on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. The app didn't guide me through the set-up process, as described in the Tradfri lights description. I was able to connect to the gateway, but then the app stayed black and I couldn't do anything further. Neither reconnecting or forgetting the gateway, nor connecting any remote controls or lights. I tried IKEA Home Smart app after that, and this one worked fine for me. Plus points for the introduction though, nice control features.

Nice UI. Intuitive and easier to work with than the default. It does a nice job grouping the functions into the room making it easier to adjust the lights. It would be neat to have some time, timer, schedule functionality.

Woorks very well, and the interface looks very clean, one thing I wish we could do though is for the RGB bulbs to have a setting or something to show just the white spectrum so it's easier to set a nice orange or white colour

Very few functionlity. I would see a color mixer, maybe some emotion color animation...

This app lets you change the atmosphere quicker than any other control app around, all with the touch of a button, without compromising on screen space! Most users will be able to see 6 to 8 rooms or lights at once.
