About this app

The Rational Electric application systematically compares appliances to assess how efficient one is over the other in terms of energy savings and shows you much you can save on electricity bills by switching to more energy efficient options. Eg. Comparing CFLs to LED Bulbs.
Users are able to save money on utility costs and decrease harmful impact on the environment by improving the energy efficiency of their houses which helps to solve the problem of global warming starting in our daily lives and in our homes.
Having everyone take part in the solution by thinking about what they use that will not disadvantage them but give them great benefits in the end.
The app allows you to input the different power consumption of the appliance you are using and calculates it’s electricity cost both per year and for a given product lifetime, giving a fuller picture of lifetime running costs using the Electricity Company of Ghana’s Reckoner.
Energy cost calculator
The app translates wattage into energy costs over the entire product lifetime. Electricity costs for one year and for the assumed product use phase(with a default lifetime value, which can be easily adjusted by the user) are calculated immediately on the energy consumption power declared on the label.
Recommending Alternatives
Products are compared against a built-in database of the most energy-efficient products in each category. Saving the inputted information quickly and easily in-app and being able to compare your appliance with the best performing energy efficient products is one of the application’s added values, and is a unique way of helping customers make an informed purchase decision.
