First of all, kudos to you as clearly not many have moved in this direction. This app is one of a kind. But the problem that I'm facing is that it works only when the app is active. Even when I keep it on the background, I get to see my old lock screen wallpaper and not the one which I want. Also when I wanted to redirect to the WebEx meetings link, the app did not allow even when the screen wasn't locked as it works only for the https protocol and not for any other. Same for a local html file.

Awesome! I've been trying to figure out how to do this on Android for ages. Back in the day I hacked together a method for this on the iPhone 3GS. I used it to load a web site, which pulls up a random image from the same web server folder, so it shows a different wallpaper image every time I wake up and unlock the phone. I had to re-code my HTML a little bit due to Android Chrome image caching, but I got it working exactly like it used to. +1 for the suggestion about removing the top bar, when displayed at the lock screen. That would give a super clean display of the full screen wallpaper. Thank you, thank you, thank you! (It’s the little things in life...) Phone=SGS9

Hi, I would be also interested in version without the bar on the top. Maybe toggle to hide bar and swipe down from top to show again? I'm using your app to show LockHTML js theme and it would look very clean without the bar. Even with the bar, thank you for the App! :)

Great App! I have my custom website and I show it on my device always on lock screen. Works Like a charm. Thanks!!! Just a suggestion if you could hide the top bar from lock screen

Looks like a great idea - I can't get it to work on a Pixel 3 phone now. Is it working with only certain OS?

About this app

version 1.7.2

This app displays a Web page selected by the user on the device lock screen. Starting from it, the Net can be navigated while still on the lock screen, that is with the device locked (with some security-related restrictions, see below).
Among other things, it enables you to
- take quick notes on the lock screen, via WebLock's own built-in reminder page; it's probably the simplest and handiest shopping list app in existence
- give students a test on tablets, with the test on a website; with WebLock they're bound to that site, they can't go to other sites or open the tablet (it's much easier than with kiosk mode)
- quickly and easily set your lock screen wallpaper to an image or page from the Internet
- view / listen to youtube videos, news pages, live podcasts for matches etc. with the device locked, it's safer in case you loose it
- for companies, enable employees to do web-based presentations on their office phone while it's locked, greatly improving security
- show others pictures from sites like Instagram or Google Photos on your phone while it's locked (for instance at parties, pass the phone around)
- further personalize your device, for instance show the 12-hour world clock on the lock screen
See details below.

Note that
1. It's not a hack, it's 100% written in standard Google-approved code.
2. It doesn't handle the device locking and unlocking itself, Android is still in charge of that. So you don't have to worry this might be done in an unsafe way.
As a safety precaution, if the device is hard-locked, the domain cannot be changed while on the lock screen (optional as of version 1.7.2). If it's only swipe-locked, this restriction doesn't apply. See details in the help.
3. It has no special permissions (for instance it cannot read the hard disk), this can be checked. So it's safe for privacy. It generally respects your privacy 100%, see the privacy statement in the terms of use.

Note that it's not a lock screen wallpaper, it's an app that's placed over the lock screen. Your current wallpaper will still be on your lock screen, when you press the home button from the app.

A few good uses for the app:
- Quick notes / to do list / reminder app
- Secure phone sharing
- Set the lock screen wallpaper
- Show the 12-hour world clock
See details and hints at the support website (you can find a link to it in the Developer info section).

The Net is full of literally millions of great images to suit everybody's taste. From Michelangelo fans to cat lovers. So the simplest way to personalize your phone is to just choose one you really like and set it as lock screen wallpaper from WebLock.
A good place to start is WebLock's own image gallery. Optimized for viewing on a phone. There's landscapes, flowers and more than 20 masterpieces of the italian Renaissance. And more.

Repetition is the mother of all wisdom. The app offers a page of famous quotes, designed for the lock screen.

A nice way to personalize the device clock is to show the 12-hour world clock. This is basically why WebLock was developed originally. It's a world clock site I wrote which also offers a few elegant analog clock styles. You find a quick link to it in the app menu, under Go to page / URL ...

Have you ever been to parties where you give your phone away to show photos to people ? That's all very nice, but if it isn't locked, you never know who might snoop in. But how to lock it if people need to see the photos ? WebLock comes to rescue.

Or, if you want to make sure you don't forget about something, write a note in the app's reminder page and point to it from WebLock. (On Android 9 and up, you should also set the lock screen wallpaper tracking option. See details in the help.) Then it will pop up regularly on your lock screen. Very helpful if you're a bit forgetful. It will annoy you, but it will help you remember.

New features

- hiding the title bar on the lock screen is now optional
- restricting navigation to one domain only when the device is hard-locked is also optional
- a few minor bug fixes
