About this app

Background:

In the field of acoustical science, there are four commonly used quantities that are mutually interrelated. These are: Sound Intensity, Sound Pressure, Particle Velocity, and Acoustic Impedance. The relationship between these is such that if any two of these properties are known then the remaining two may be calculated per published equations.

Issue:

Although the equations that related these four quantities are straightforward mathematically, yet each time such conversion is desired a manual calculation needs to be performed. A simple conversion utility that can accomplish this task is desired.

Scope:

AcuCon accepts the two known input parameter values from the user and calculates the remaining two unknown parameter values for the user. The software aims to accomplish this via a clean and uncluttered user interface.

Limitations:

Currently AcuCon only calculates in metric units.
