साबिक ताप्लेजुङ नगरपालिका नेपाल सरकारको निर्णयअनुसार वि.सं.२०७१ साल वैशाख २५ गते गठन भएको नयाँ नगरपालिका हो । सोही ताप्लेजुङ नगरपालिका नै राज्य पुनर्संरचनाका क्रममा साबिकका केही छिमेकी गाविसहरूलाई समेट्दै हाल नाम परिवर्तन भई फुङ्लिङ नगरपालिका बनेको हो । हासम्म यो ताप्लेजुङको एक मात्र नगरपालिका हो । यो नेपालको प्रदेश नं.१मा रहेको छ ।यसको कुल क्षेत्रफल १२५.५७ वर्ग किलोमिटर रहेको छ । धार्मिक, सांस्कृतिक तथा जातीय विविधता भएको यस नगरपालिकामा विशेष गरी लिम्बू समुदायको बाहुल्य रहेको छ । सडक तथा हवाई यातायातको सञ्जालले छोएको यस नगरपालिकामा सडक सञ्जालको विस्तार द्रुत गतिमा भइरहेको छ । यहाँ विभिन्न धार्मिक तथा पर्यटकीय क्षेत्रहरू रहेका छन् । पाथीभरा मन्दिर यहाँको सबभन्दा महत्त्वपूर्ण दर्शनीय स्थल हो ।
