Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Spark Core Controller on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file directly into LDPlayer.

About this app

Spark Core Controller is a basic app for the developer that wants to execute Spark functions (see http://www.spark.io/ if you are not familiar with this amazing little device). You simply enter the Core_ID, the access_token, and the function name and data to pass to the function. Click the Execute button, and the curl request is sent. Hook your core to your lights or other devices and operate them from anywhere in the world. This is a simple implementation but works great. If you get an error, it is most likely due to a problem with the Core_ID or the access_token (remember the access_token needs to be reset every 90 days). If you get no return message, you probably have a problem with the function or values sent. See the Spark code in the picture for a demo of how to program the Spark core with a function. The example will let you light or extinguish the on board LED. If this app gets any interest, I will program it to put the Core_ID and access_token on another page and pretty up the GUI with a drop down with all your entered functions and potential inputs. Thanks for looking.
