Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing IQAlert on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file directly into LDPlayer.

About this app

IQAlert is a companion app for registered Garmin watch apps and watchfaces.

It can be useful for Garmin watchfaces which might need to alert the user periodically. However, due to watchface limitations, they can not issue, by themselves, alerts for the user, e.g. by vibrating the watch.

IQAlert makes such alerts possible. The watch can send a command to IQAlert which then produces a notification on the phone, together with text, vibration and sound (depending on the command sent).

The notification is sent to the watch, displaying the notification text and vibrating the watch - which is standard behavior for notifications arriving on the watch.

Due to limitations imposed by Garmin on watch-phone communications, the watchface can send such alert commands to the phone maximally every 5 minutes.

Also, even if the alert command requests vibration on the phone, this might happen only when the phone is not in power saving mode and IQAlert is in the foreground. However, IQAlert can play alert sounds on the phone even when it is in the background.

IQAlert starts listening to messages from registered Garmin watch apps/watchfaces as soon as it is installed.

The user can stop and restart this listening process. IQAlert works, even when it is in the background.
