About this app

Genasys Alert is a personal safety app used for receiving emergency communications and advisories based on your location and/or group membership. The app works in conjunction with Genasys' critical and emergency communication platform: GEM Enterprise, an emergency communications solution that purchased by an organization to protect their employees, contractors, and visitors.

Installing this app on your mobile device will enable the organization to rapidly inform you of any emergency or advisory conditions. When an alert is received, the app will attempt to vibrate your device and pop-up a full-screen view of the alert content. It can also optionally play an audible alert tone and message. (You may configure your phone to suppress these.)

The app can receive alerts directly from an organization’s WiFi system when you are connected to it, or alternatively can receive the alert via push notification. To enable alert reception by push notification you must Subscribe to the organization’s GEM Enterprise solution. In this case the organization will provide organization-specific instructions to you. When subscribed, the app will request your permission to provide location tracking updates for your device to the organization’s GEM Enterprise solution. If enabled, this tracking is usually restricted to the areas controlled by the organization. When tracking is refused, the app will continue support alert reception, but the organization will not be able to provide location-targeted alerts to you.

Alerts received directly from an organization’s WiFi system may include options to respond, which would be listed directly below the alert content. For example, you might be asked if you are evacuating, have reached a safe location, or need help. Touching a listed response will provide it back to the organization’s security team.

The app supports alert reception (and WiFi-based response) from any number of organizations that are using the GEM Enterprise solution.
