About this app

St. Joseph Syro Malabar Parish was erected and entrusted to the Vincentian Congregation, under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, on 11th February 2001, by the then Archbishop of Bangalore, Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Pinto. The Parish was started with 106 families under the charismatic leadership of Late Rev. Fr. Mathew Thoyalil VC, the founder Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Church and the then Superior of the Vincentian Ashram Bangalore.
In the Year 2004, Rev. Fr. Mathew Thoyalil VC became very sick and shifted to Kerala fo treatment. On 6th May 2005, Fr. Pius Kodakkathanath VC, the then superior of the Vincentian Ashram, was appointed as the Parish Priest of the St. Joseph Parish by Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras.

The new Parish administration decided to construct a Parish Church, with the permission of the Provincial Council. The foundation stone of the Vincentian Ashram and the Parish Church was blessed and laid on the 10th September 2006 by Most. Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, the Archbishop of Bangalore. The existing Vincentian Ashram was demolished and an Ashram cum Parish Church was constructed at a cost of over 2.5 Crores.

On 14th August 2010, the new church was blessed by Most. Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore.

With 582 families spread across 22 wards, the Parish is currently under the newly formed Mandya Diocese under the leadership of Most Rev. Mar. Antony Kariyil. Our Parish also attracts a floating crowed of over 150 bachelors and students.
