It would work a whole lot better if the ringtone could be silenced once you pick your phone up. I do talk-to-text and I have to wait for the ringtone to stop before I can even respond very annoying especially when in public. The easy mute feature on my S7 Edge will not work at all now.

Works great!!! Only problem was having to dig through EVERY audio file on my phone to find the notification sounds, but that's not a deal breaker. Runs smoothly.

It works for all my contacts so far except 2. My mom and my husband. The 2 I want the most. I've tried everything from deleting the contacts completely to renaming them.. does anyone know what could be causing it not to work on a specific contact. Please help.. I really like the app.. but I want to customize these 2 contacts as well.

It worked great for a while until I wanted to changed someone's text tone, then it only assigned ringtones and the text tone went to my default setting. Not sure why as I'm not doing anything differently. If any bugs this app has are fixed I'd like to keep using it

About this app

Set custom sounds (MP3/WAV/OGG/etc) for your contacts' incoming SMS and MMS messages so you know exactly who's texting you before you look at the screen.

FEATURES:
1) Assign specific sounds to individual contacts.
2) Assign specific sounds to groups of contacts.
3) Assign a default sound that is played for all received texts.
4) Landscape and Portrait views for phones and tablets
5) This app contains sounds that you can copy to your device (see the "Options" screen) to use

ANDROID OREO (8.0) "HEART MONITOR" ICON
For apps running in the background, Android 8.0 shows a little notification icon in the Notification Bar; it's a little "heart monitor" icon.
This notification is intended to warn the user about apps that might consume a lot of battery power.
However, my app uses *very little* CPU (close to 0 mAh of power) but it *must* continue to run in the background in order to be notified of incoming SMS's.

I can understand how the heart monitor icon is annoying - but you can hide it:
1) scroll the Notification Bar open,
2) slide the "Text-Tone Customizer is running in the background" notification to the side,
3) click the Gear icon,
4) click "ALL CATEGORIES",
5) click on "Apps running in background",
6) click "Importance",
7) select "Low".
Exit out of these screens and the heart-monitor icon is gone.

It seems that on Android 8.1 this "heart monitor" icon has been removed for you.

SOUND EFFECTS
Copy your own custom sound effects to your "Ringtones" folder and you can even use those ! (free feature!)
Please note: the app ships with a neat selection of sound effects. If you like, you can have the app copy those files to your Ringtones folder so that they can be used.

HOW IT WORKS:
When a text message is received, the app cross-references the senders number to your contacts. If a match is found and an "Individual" Tone is set, then that sound is played.

If no "Individual" Tone is set then the app cross-references the senders number to your contact groups, and plays a sound if assigned.

If no group is assigned a tone, but a "Default" tone is, then the app plays that.

PRIVACY POLICY:
This app does *not* collect information about you or your contacts! This app does not read your messages!

PERMISSIONS:
To be able to function, this app must receive notification of an SMS message and the sender's number (which is cross-referenced with the contacts in your phone).
For advertisements only, this app requests access to the internet.

BUGS / SUGGESTIONS:
If you come across a bug, or have a suggestion to improve the app, then please send me an email. If the app crashes then report it so that Google sends me the crash report.
