This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing MEL Trial on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

I have smart pre-payed meters installed and already use the standard British Gas app to top as that's all it appears to be useful for. I downloaded this one as I thought it would give me better up-to-date information on my usage and remaining credit which the other app does not do for some reason. Yet this app doesn't even let me log in!!! If we don't have working apps then seriously what is the point of us getting these so-called smart meters installed?! 'Smart' in name only it seems...

Well I asked about this app with the Smart Energy Expert on the day of installation and he had no Knowledge of it. He only knew about the ordinary British Gas app. It will not accept my BGSM on ether my Electric meter or Gas meter. I have a BGSML for some reason. I was told by British Gas over the phone that I can't use it as I have Pre Payment Smart Meters, but it might become available for Pre Payment Smart Meters.

Can't register and it's not clear by app name that it's actually a private trail! Very annoying

if the staff at British Gas don't know what they are talking about or what's required what chance have the customers got? What I say to the people who cannot get this working is don't worry even if you don't have the additional box required your not missing much, it only intermittently Talks to the meter so what you end up with is 9 times out of ten it gives you no reading at all. Yes I know British Gas its only a trial ( nice get out Clause), also the price of these additional addons you can buy such as the remote power socket or the door sensors for the British Gas Hive system are ludicrously priced.....such greed, your almost as bad as Sky.

Two months after install I still can't register an account. British Gas didn't say anything about extra hardware or it being a trial. Gathered that from the comments here. What is the point of rolling this out with bits missing! So much for the advertising.

When try to log in to my British gas account I get Error message "Sorry we seem to have technical trouble logging into your account..." this error has been coming up for weeks now, never seen the app working.
