It's skunky and self-defeating to remove the onboard camera functionality. As a result alternative apps such as Rolf Dieter Klein's Radioactivity Detector or GammaPix will be downloaded instead.

They removed the use of your phone's camera. App's existence is a waste of electrons now.

This app has tremendous potential to save lives during a nuclear disaster by allowing the most effective fallout shelter to be identified. At first I didn't think it worked because it didn't respond to input to either camera, but I figured out I had to run the error correction routine first, and then press the Measure button, which is no longer grayed out. The warning that the detection process may heat the phone makes it sound battery intensive, which would make this unsuitable as a continuous monitoring device. My main suggestion, by far, is to offer some documentation from the Home screen to help users get started. I wonder how many one star reviews here were just users who didn't guess the right buttons to push to get started. Edit 1/25/18: Since I seldom use the front camera of my Galaxy S5, I thought to leave it covered so I could run GammaGuard in the background. But when I try to use the front camera with GammaGuard it invariably crashes. Testing the back camera for more than a few seconds causes the app to crash in that case too.

Nice application, no malware additions like Peel Remote.

It failed to connect to the camera in both my ZTE phone and my LG phone. Even if it worked, it would display junk data. The author seems to have no real understanding of radiation measurement.
