This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Day Widget on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file directly into LDPlayer.

Very good. Exactly as described. 10/10 It looks great on the home screen. Just a tip to the developer. You need to tell people how to install the widget. Not just assume they know how to. Hold your finger down on an empty part of the screen. Then the widgets settings will appear which will allow you to add this widget or any widget come to that.

Install and a page comes up saying "this is not the icon" with no clear explanation on how to get it actually working. I am not a 20-, 30-, or 40-something who gets all this by osmosis. Yet i still need an app that actually shows the date AND the DAY OF THE WEEK visibly. Other apps' icons show the day number clearly but the day of week is miniscule. I want my home screen to have the day of the week LARGE. Where the %#&$ is something for those of us without perfect vision, whatever our age???

I've used it flawlessly on my S7 for at least two years and would be lost without it! 🙃 I now have an S10+ and am installing it there. IT'S PERFECT!!!

plain and simple.just what i was looking for. now if only i could make it bit bigger edt... i see lately the widget does not update its date until you tap on it

This app is the only one I could find that simply displays the date and day of the week clearly at a glance. It's been completely trouble free since installation although I did confuse the app icon with the app. Suggestions: Resizing would be helpful, maybe some different colors? This app is solid and trim. The date and day are easily visible at a glance with the month below. The app uses little power and even less CPU time. It's simplified perfection.

Nice! Exactly what I wanted. Just the date. All devices show the time, but few also show the date. Had to remove this app from my home page, to the app drawer, reboot, to get widget to show. Then easy to apply as usual. Would be nice if there were basic color choices, where the day name is displayed. Very pleased though. Thank you!

About this app

** NOTE ABOUT NON-UPDATING DATE **
Please note that Day Widget is not under active development - changes in Android since it was first written have meant that on some devices the Widget does not update. Unfortunately I currently have no resource to investigate this issue.

** THE APP ICON IS NOT THE WIDGET! **
If you're looking at an icon that says "DAY WIDGET" then you're not looking at the Widget. You must install the Widget onto your homescreen yourself, in the usual way for Widgets on your phone. Consult your phone's support or help for how to do this. You can remove the App Icon if it got automatically installed by your phone onto your homescreen.


No permissions, tiny memory size, near zero CPU as it only needs to run for a moment at midnight. Clicking the widget opens your standard calendar.

This app shows the date as a widget. The launcher icon is not the widget! Install the widget into an empty space on your home screen in the usual way, choosing Day Widget from the Widgets list. Please ensure the application is not installed to "external" or SD card memory, or the widget cannot work.

If the widget does not update, it might be a "battery saver" app or setting on your phone.

(The second screenshot shows the size and shape options. The third screen shot is a composite to show how the widget looks in different countries - the widget only displays in the language set in your device's settings.)
