About this app

WHAT IS MCOVERAGE?
MCoverage is a crowdsourced, cellular network performance survey tool aimed at improving cellular service at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. Developed by U-M Information and Technology Services (ITS), it is a collaborative project based on technology created by Dr. Morley Mao and the MobiPerf research team.

WHY USE MCOVERAGE?
Help U-M to work with carriers to improve cellular coverage.

By using MCoverage on your device, you can:
- See how cellular service performs on campus, at a building level.
- Help the university learn about locations where coverage needs improvement.
- Assist the university to gather data to share with cellular carriers, which may help improve coverage at U-M.

WHAT DOES MCOVERAGE DO?
In the background, MCoverage periodically transmits cellular performance and coverage data from mobile devices to ITS and MobiPerf researchers. The data is analyzed by ITS to advise carriers about cellular service improvements needed on campus.
