About this app

This app will make you aware of when you keep using certain apps for too long. I call this a Mind Leak. When this happens, the app will show you yourself staring into the phone (or alternatively someone else staring) as a reminder that your mind leaked. This will help you reduce your time in the apps you wanna use less.

Stop doom scrolling and reduce your screen time! The idea of seeing yourself staring might seem funny at first, but it's actually quite effective at reducing the time you spend procrastinating. It’s an unusual way to fight the addictive algorithms of social media, support digital minimalism, or start a digital detox.

There are no ads or analytics and the app relies on generosity alone. Your data is safe, will only be stored locally, and never be shared with anybody.

Who am I?
Hi, my name is Micha, I'm an independent developer and the creator of this app (and others). When I'm not working on an app, you'll usually find me running, hiking, or reading.

How did I get the idea?
Actually I didn't! The original idea was conceived by Tarik, who realized during lockdown that he was spending way too much time on his phone. During a conversation with his friend Marleen, he wondered how this made his face look. Shouldn't there be an app for that? So Marleen, who happens to be my girlfriend, shared the idea and it all came together!
Let's also not forget Marleen's cat Lola, who you might have seen in one of the example videos. Needless to say, no animals were harmed during the making of this app!
