About this app

This app is made to help people in need. It can be used to send an emergency distress message, that
can send an SMS to 3 numbers, email to 3 recipients or make a phone call.
It is designed to basically be active all the time, but can be started and used and
then take a distress action.
When a phone call is made the speaker phone can be selected to be is activated automatically,
to more easier talk to the person in need, or to hear what is happening.
There is also a training for Dogs.
A dog could put the nose onto the screen and activate the distress action or any of the selected features.
One very important notice!
All hardware are automatically controlled to more easily be an aid for people in need.
Bluetooth, SMS, Phone Call, WLAN, and E-mail are used without user interaction.
This in mind of old people and dogs to use the app.
No info is sent to anyone except the content in the mail or SMS selected by the user.
No data, logs, or any personal info are gathered by this app.

Do remember that this application is an aid, and a call from the app to the emergency services might not work in all countries. In that case, select a friend or family member that can help to call the emergency services if an emergency occurs.

The application is designed as an aid to keep track of for instance older people if they wander of, or to track a dog that runs away. If a person gets an epileptic seizure or any other kind of seizure, the application senses that by shaking or if a dog or anyone else in the vicinity takes action and triggers the app, it sends a mail, SMS or makes a phone call, vibrates or any other action that can be selected.

The app can also warn a person by message if a earthquake occurs, by using it's shaking setting.

Value limits for shaking, hit, move or EMF can be configured in settings, do test all values before use to prevent false or missed distress emergency actions.
Also the widget will take the action that is configured in the settings in the app. So before using the widget, be sure to configure the Distress Guard before using the widget.
The app can send continuous GPS position to the mail addresses and/or SMS numbers.
If the GPS in message is selected the GPS position including current address is added to the message.

Available sensors/triggers:
Shaking, Hit, Move, Temperature, Light, GPS address, WLAN vicinity, Bluetooth vicinity, EMF, proximity, Front Green Button for direct action or for dogs to take action and a front screen widget.

The front and widget buttons are green because dogs can't see red, I have tested this myself.
The training button is blue for the same reason.

Available Actions:
SMS, E-mail, Phone Call, Vibrate, sound an alarm, flash the LED,
Several actions and sensors can be selected at the same time.

Also do remember that SMS and E-mail can cost money to send.
If a WLAN is used the E-Mail is sent by that internet connection.

Tip:
If the widget seems not to work at first install, do reboot the phone, that seems to help activate the widget.

If the widget is used for dogs, do remember that use a large widget that is hard for the dog to miss, and use only this widget on one screen, this to prevent the dog from starting any other app on the phone, preventing the distress action to be taken.

WLAN is a better used as a trigger than GPS position, any known WLAN hot spot can be used for the app to look for.
If the app can't find that specific WLAN SSID after 10 attempts the distress action is taken.
The WLAN hot spot does not have to have a connection to internet nor a known encryption key, only an active known SSID.
Do remember WLAN has a shorter reach of distance than GPS, also it depends on the environment.

Please send me a mail if you find any strange behavior, or if a feature can be good to have.
It is hard to guarantee 100% functionality on all units available, so please tell me.
If the app are sending false alarms on some units, do tell me, and I will try to do it more secure.
