日本語では子音のあとに母音が連続するケースがたくさんあります。たとえば「行程　＝　K（OU） T（EI）」では括弧の部分で母音が連続しています。この子音＋連母音を一筆書きのようにつなげて入力できます。一筆書きの入力方法をスワイプと呼んでいます。

「行程」の場合、K→O→U　および　T→E→I　の2スワイプになります。

また、子音のあとに母音とNが連続するケースも多々あります。たとえば「点検　＝　T（EN）K（EN）」などです。これもスワイプで入力できます。

「点検」の場合、T→E→N　および　K→E→Nの２スワイプとなります。
