Qu'est-ce qu'un QR code ?

Le code appelé « Quick Response » en raison de sa facilité et sa rapidité à être décodé est un type de code barre en deux dimensions (ou code matriciel datamatrix), présenté sous forme de pictogramme constitué de pixels noirs sur carré de fond blanc. La lecture de ce code délivre une information déchiffrée par des lecteurs spécifiques (smartphones, téléphones mobiles, webcam, tablette mobile). Le QR est photographié via la caméra embarquée de l'appareil qui le déchiffre grâce à une application préinstallée ou à installer.
Petite histoire du QR Code

Le QR code est une invention japonaise créée en 1994 pour Toyota par l'entreprise Denso-Wave afin de tracer le chemin des pièces détachées en usine. L'invention a été rendue publique en 1999 sous licence libre et a fait l'objet d'une normalisation ISO 18004. Ingénieux, le QR code connaît très vite le succès, avec l'avènement du téléphone mobile dans les années 2000.

La France a développé son propre format de QR code, le flashcode, qui donne accès aux mêmes types d'informations que le QR code, mais dont les pixels sont plus grands. Cela permet une lecture plus facile et moins aléatoire que les QR Code, si celui-ci est gravé sur un support rugueux.
