For a security related app that hasn't been updated since 2017, it works fairly well and even on beta versions of Android 11 and Big Sur. Unfortunately even with Android 10, the app only works once to unlock and then you have to close the app out and restart it. Never the less, if you have a Mac with no Apple Watch, no iPhone, and no Touch ID, this Android Mac unlocker can get the job done.

This is an amazing app that helped me establish Fingerprint Connection between my Cousins Mac Computer and my Phone using the Android Fingerprint Scanner. The app itself has an inbuilt capability and requires a software to be installed to the Mac to operate and to be allowed to access the keyring. The softwares background is black and contains detailed instruction on how to use it together with a very user-friendly interface as well; I would recommend this app for your next usage.

App only works one time to unlock the screen on the Mac. If the Mac re-locks automatically it thinks it is already locked and you have to kill the app to get it to work again. Also, the email address in the app to email the developer does not work. Additionally the linked website generates a security alert for an invalid SSL cert. I also really question the security model behind this app, in essence your phone makes a call to their site, and their site in turn makes a call to the app on your computer to unlock your computer. If the site was compromised, someone could unlock all computers that have this installed. And who knows what else the app is or can do.

Great app/concept but very flawed. The app itself has to be closed/re-opened everytime you want to re-authenticate (yuck!) Also the mac client is flawed. If the screen is locked and awake, then it works fine. If the screen is locked but off (aka black screen) then the app doesnt put the password in correctly and the laptop stays locked. There is also no "launch at system startup" option for the mac client.

I had heard so much about this app, so I downloaded it. Never worked, when clicking on the icon in the icon bar it blinks on the screen, but was never able to enter the code to pair phone and my mac. Great idea and concept but would need some more service design and better UX features.

this is an amazing app, which helps me a lot I really hope this can work offline such as using Bluetooth, or local WiFi.that will make this perfect like everyone mentioned, sometime I have to reopen the app to able to get the unlock Page that's a little annoying. I really wish dear developer cab fix this and add the offline support. Thank you for making such a great app.

About this app

Notice: Support for Windows may or may not come, due to the nature of how security works on Windows, it's a little challenging to get it working there. Please do not leave negative reviews because Windows isn't supported.

DroidID is an Android app that lets you unlock your Mac with your device's fingerprint sensor, making it very convenient and easy for you to unlock your iMac/Macbook/Macbook Pro/Macbook Air.

DroidID unlocks your Mac when:

- Your Mac is sleeping
- Your Mac has a screensaver running
- You resume your Mac from sleep by moving the mouse or pressing a key

DroidID will not unlock your Mac when:

- On first boot-up
- When you manually lock your Mac (i.e clicking on your name on the status bar and then clicking 'Login Window....'

If you want DroidID to start up every time you start your Mac, please add the application to Login items under Users & Groups in System Preferences on your Mac

Requirements for using DroidID:

- Mac client app (can be downloaded from suyashsrijan.com/droidid). Please move the client app to your Mac's Applications folder after downloading
- Android device running Marshmallow (or above), or a Samsung device running Lollipop (or above)a
- A Mac running El Capitan (10.12) or above

Security:

DroidID takes security seriously. Your password is stored on your Mac itself, in Keychain. To verify, if you open Keychain on your Mac, you'll see an entry for "com.suyashsrijan.DroidID". You can double click it to view its properties, and it will ask you to enter your password to see the password that is stored by the app. Since Keychain encrypts everything it stores, your password is also encrypted. Your fingerprints are not stored by the app, they are only read from your phone. The app only checks your scanned fingerprint against the ones registered on your device.

New features

* Mac client updated - Fixed crash. Follow app reset instructions & Download the latest version from: suyashsrijan.com/droidid
