Doesn't support wires thinner than AWG14, so it's useless for anything involving cat5/cat6 network cable.

Some of the ampacity tables are incorrect. 4/0 aluminum is listed as 205 amps at 75 degrees Celsius. In fact it is only good for 180 amps at that temperature.

Useful app, but could be better. For DC applications, wire size should include AWG and SAE wire sizes, as well as 16 and 18AWG.

Matches what the electrical supplier recommended. Very satisfied with options and results.

Spot on, except I wish the app gave an option to select insulation classes of conductors. Instead, it defaults to 60c insulation which is strange being that 75c is a typical spec. Just know your ampacity ratings of conductors, and base your selection off of the voltage drop. Ie... size 3 in the app is rated for 85A(60c), but I'm running size 3 THHN(90c) which is good for 115A.

Some of the information takes up more than 1 line, instead of making the space bigger the app appears to cut of some information. Would like an option to expand the information

About this app

Southwire's voltage drop calculator will help you determine the proper wire size for an electrical circuit based on the voltage drop and current carrying capacity of an electrical circuit. Determines wire size to meet specific voltage drop limits or calculates voltage drop for a specific conductor run. When sizing conductors, calculations limits wire size to voltage drop and NEC ampacity. Southwire's Voltage Drop Calculator is designed for applications using AWG and KCMIL sizes only.
