This is a great app for booting up an ISO File for System Installation on the PC but one issue is that it requires root access for it to function and since some device manufacturers have restricted the access for root on some devices, it's not that possible to use this app. Nonetheless, the app has the ability to download an ISO file for you as well and has a very amazing background as well with very cool features for you to try out; I would recommend this app for your next usage.

Hands down - FIVE STARS. I used to carry thumbdrives for different booting needs and mingle and misplace them or overwrote one for something and forget about it, just a waste of thumb drives with 10% of their atorage used for just a lousy iso or filesystem image. Works and it is useful!

most Linux distributions missing but it's a really cool app. I would definitely buy it if the Linux packages were there, all but a couple say missing file. manjaro was one for sure missing, the app won't load anymore. it starts up but won't display anything it just has a spinning loading icon. it says it's being granted root, but not working anymore. that's too bad, I used it to boot into mint last night and it was awesome.

DriveDroid 0.9.29 Works great on my LineageOS 15.1 device but the most recent update does not ever complete initial setup. Love the app besides latest version breaking functionality. Pro version purchased! UPDATE: When doing a fresh install of DriveDroid 0.10.50 setup wizard would hang and never work. After installing and setting up with old version, the new version upgrades and bypasses the setup wizard allowing the latest version to function as intended.

I don't know why this app has only 3.9 starts. Thank you developers for making this app, it works great, didn't have any problems, installed MX Linux to my PC. Thanks again.

Not working galaxy s8 plus, says no hosting devices... Dev options set usb debugging, usb-mtp. Does it just not work on galaxy 7,8 and 9 models. Disappointing. Beta is the same result. What phones does this work for if not any Samsung models? To reply: OK thank you, look forward to suggestions. May help to know I've currently rooted it and don't mind using various kernals if you can recommend ones that may work. Currently on newest stock. Thanks, again.

About this app

This application requires root

DriveDroid allows you to boot your PC from ISO/IMG files stored on your phone. This is ideal for trying Linux distributions or always having a rescue-system on the go... without the need to burn different CDs or USB pendrives.

DriveDroid also includes a convenient download menu where you can download USB-images of a number of operating systems from your phone (like Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE and Arch Linux). Around 35 different systems are available at this moment.

You can also create blank USB-images which allows you to have a blank USB-drive. From your PC you can store files onto the USB-drive, but also use tools on your PC to write images to the drive.

Notes
• This application uses features of the kernel that may or may not be available/stable on your phone. Tests have shown most phones work without problems, but please keep in mind yours might not (yet) work out-of-the-box.
• Most kernels support emulating USB drives, some support emulating CD-rom drives and kernels with the right patches support both.
• Most Linux-related ISOs can be booted from USB drives, but some ISOs can only be booted from CD-rom drives or require some kind of conversion.

Paid version
• No ads.
• Resizing of images.
• Add your own download repositories. Nice for companies or groups that want to share custom or licensed images.
