The hardware itself is pretty solid but, the supporting application here is just not great. The estimated time function is junk and totally inaccurate. The ambient temperature takes forever to come to a final rest moving just a degree or still at a time even when it has a hundred degrees to travel. Cannot view any of the info in the notification despite the application running in the background, must give up your screen to the app anytime you want to know where your meat is at. It's junk.

Works great on the grill, works great in the oven. App maintains contact 5 rooms and 1 story away from the kitchen. Very happy with this. Had difficulty stopping it from running in the background. Couldn't find a setting that killed the app. Had to force stop to get the "running in background notification to stop coming back.

I don't have all the disconnect issues others are having. Make sure the app is set to unrestricted in battery settings so android doesn't close it. The issues I do have are the ambient temp reads low, maybe because the cold meat is transferring heat out of the top of the probe where it takes the ambient temp reading? And then the ETA starts out close to correct, then cuts way down, and is very off and gradually increases over the cook. Looking at it halfway through, it will be way wrong.

App looks and feels good. The physical device itself is also very good. The only complaint is not being able to set a minimum temperature for the food temp for situations where the meat needs to rest before being cut or refrigerated (pulled pork and brisket, for example).

Love my Temp Spike!! I don't have wifi on either my gas nor pellet grills but Temp Spike gives me all I need to remotely monitor my cooks. This is especially awesome when there is a breeze! I also really like being able to graph the temp progress and the calculated end times. Those features help me ensure I get done exactly when I want to be done. Definitely a huge plus at holiday time or other occasions with many hungry mouths to feed!

Before the app was updated it worked fine for me. Now it's useless and force closes. On top of the I haven't owned the spike for very long and after a month both case and probes are dead. Update: after downloading a software update for my phone, the app no longer crashes.
