About this app

The PlaySAP app displays a list of all nearby game stores. Tapping on a store shows all events scheduled at that store for the day. Then tap an event to enter and you're signed up. Store staff can view and print a real-time roster of players in each event. (The beta version of PlaySAP does not yet allow payment by app, but several convenient payment options are in the works.)

Game stores use the companion website www.PlaySAP.tv to post events. Events can be posted for the future as well – e.g. every Wednesday for the next 6 months. Any event posted for the day will show up immediately in the PlaySAP app. The player count at the store's website, as well as in the app, is updated in real time.

Benefits:

Shorter, quicker lines. (When pay by app becomes available, players won't have to wait in line at all.)

Events start on time far more often due to quicker lines. Store staff can copy and paste from PlaySAP's online event roster into WER, which means quicker data entry with fewer errors, which means fewer re-pairs and on time starts. (A future enhancement will load the player data from the app directly into Wizard's Event Reporter without any human interaction at all.)

The app shows the number of players who have signed up for the event, so player' do not have to call the store to see if an event is going to fire and store staff no longer have to waste time answering such calls.

If a player is running late, he doesn't have to call the store to say he'll be there – they already know from the app. He can even show up after the event fires, if the grace period has not passed.

Store staff no longer waste time waiting while players dig in their pockets for a wad of crumpled up dollar bills or painstakingly count out a handful of change. No more hunting around for a pen that works or the right sign up sheet. No more struggles to decipher chicken-scratched names or DCI numbers. Just push a button, print a neat roster and fire the event.

Stores will have far fewer lost sales due to customers with merchandise in hand deciding to go another store where the line isn't so damn long, clogged with players signing up for events.

Participating stores will attract more customers, both those new to the area or those who just hadn't known about the store before.

Beta Test

PlaySAP consists of two parts – the app, which players use, and the website, where stores post events.

The ideal test is for game stores to use www.PlaySAP.tv post their events, and for players use the app to sign up – i.e. try the system out in real life.

(For the beta test, it's perfectly fine for testers to test both parts themselves – set up test stores, post events and test the functionality of both the app and the website.)

Since this is beta test, there is no guarantee about anything. There will be bugs, maybe some crashes, and any data about stores or events could disappear at any time. Obviously stores should still have a sign up sheet for players who aren't using the app. It would be for everyone's benefit that beta test stores strongly encourage players to use the app. The more people who use it, the more benefits for everyone.
