About this app

Tired of thumb-scrolling through documents, web pages, books and menus? Sensor Scroll lets you automatically scroll the content of your screen by simply tilting the phone. This works in any app! What's more, Sensor Scroll features a floating widget to conveniently enable/disable automatic scroll.

During automatic scroll, you can control the scrolling speed by tilting further forward or backward. Sensor Scroll also features horizontal scrolling - turn a page in your favorite reader app by tilting the phone to the left or to the right - as well as page scroll: Browse a list of articles using regular tilt scroll, then switch to page scroll for reading an article.

PLEASE NOTE: Sensor Scroll performs scrolling by doing an automated swipe gesture on behalf of the user. For technical reasons, this automatic scroll cannot be as smooth as manual scrolling. Accordingly, the scrolling speeds Sensor Scroll offers are not designed for reading along while scrolling, but for browsing through menus at medium speed, as well as for swift scrolling on after you are done reading a page of text.

SETUP: Tap "Enable Sensor Scroll", and follow the instructions to enable the accessibility service. Next, tap "Enable floating widget". Follow the instructions to grant Sensor Scroll the necessary permission. Finally, tap "Apps to include" to select apps from a list.

USAGE:
To re-position the floating widget: do a long press on it, and move it to the desired position.

To hide the widget: swipe it towards the nearest (left or right) side of the screen. (You may have to swipe slowly if the widget is close to the margin.) To bring it back, swipe inwards on it from the margin.

To do a tilt scroll: Tap the widget. To scroll down, tilt the phone slightly forward now. To automatically scroll faster or slower, change the tilt angle during scrolling. Bringing the phone back to its former tilt angle ends automatic scrolling. For scrolling up, do the reverse. To do another tilt scroll, tap the widget again.
Instead of manually triggering automatic scrolling each time, you can also select that the tilt angle at which you first enabled automatic scrolling will be used for further tilt scrolling until you tap the widget again. For this, enable "Permanent tilt scroll". You can also hide the widget while automatic scrolling is enabled in this mode.
(Please note: When using Permanent tilt scroll for a longer period, it may happen that you slightly change yor reading angle. This may result in unwanted automatic scrolling. Doing a short manual up or down swipe will stop it, and also reset the default reading angle to this new angle.)

Horizontal scrolling: do a swipe up on the widget. Tilting the phone to left or right will do a left/right one-page or multi-page swipe, depending on the selection.

Page scroll: To set it up, select a value in "Page scroll". This will be percentage of the screen that will be scrolled upon tilting the phone once. To activate/deactivate page scroll, do a swipe down on the widget. (A small dot indicates page scroll mode.)

IMPORTANT: If tilt scroll does not work reliably while riding in a car or a bus, please select "Use magnetic sensor"

NOTE: In those apps (or web pages) that are slow to refresh their content while scrolling, there can be a perceptible lag in automatic scrolling (just as there would be with regular finger scrolling).
