About this app

PassGo is an open source project available at https://github.com/3d-passgo

Have you ever used or even heard of a 4D password? Come on and try “4D PassGo”. Yes, it is FOUR D: 3D + time!

“4D PassGo” is a rhythm based 3D PassGo, and will bring you not only the coolest 3D experience, but also the peace in mind that your password would not be shoulder surfed by others.

PassGo, derived from Go (an accent Chinese board game), is widely believed to be the prototype of the Google Pattern Lock and to become the next generation password. In PassGo, a user draws lines and dots on a grid by touching the intersections as a password.

“3D PassGo” extends PassGo from a 2D plane to a 3D space. 3D PassGo is encoded as a sequence of 3D coordinates, and hence the password space is further extended exponentially. In addition, the 3D grid can be dynamically rotated and be zoomed in or out to optimize your comfort to enter a password.

4D PassGo, further extends 3D PassGo by adding the dimension of "Time": PassGo has to be drawn in the exactly same rhythm (with certain degree of tolerance) as how it was set up to be entered successfully. 4D PassGo is shoulder surfing resistant and hence more secure.

As a rhythm is not visible and might be difficult to remember or to reproduce, we provide two methods to facilitate this issue: first, we introduced the "heartbeat": a continuous heart-beating (vibration) while you are touching the screen. You may choose to move or lift your finger right after certain numbers of heartbeats as a memory strategy. Second, we introduced the "rhythmic style", a visual appearance of your rhythm: the thickness of the lines/dots changes with the rhythm. The slower PassGo is drawn, the thicker the line is and the bigger the dot will be; the faster PassGo is drawn, the thinner the line is and the smaller the dot will be. With above methods, we see a success login rate of above 90% in our tests. 4D PassGo is more secure and shoulder surfing resistant.

"4D PassGo Lock Screen" can lock not only system screen, but also individual Apps. You can fine-tune the security of your lock screen by adjusting the grid size from thousands of choices, from 1x1x1 all the way to 19x19x19. The color/style/background of PassGo can be easily customized to your own preference in a way of "you see what you get".

FAQ
=============

* Why should I disable System Lock?
Disabling System Lock will avoid double locking. This is optional though.

* Screen does not lock, what is wrong?
Usually this is due to the setting of Lock Screen Timeout or the Lock Screen Service is not running. Try to turn on the Lock Screen Service. If the problem still exists, feel free to send an email to our support team passgosz@gmail.com.

* What is the "Lock Screen Timeout"?
"Lock Screen Timeout" is the wait time between screen is off and screen is actually locked. For example, if "Immediately" is chosen, then the screen will be locked instantly after it is turned off (due to either display timeout or power key is pressed); if "Two Minutes" is chosen, then screen will be locked two minutes after screen is off.

* How do I rotate the grid?
Touch the screen just around the grid or inside the grid without touching any intersections, and then keep moving on the screen.

* How do I zoom in or out the grid?
Place two fingers on the grid and then adjust the distance between the two fingers.

* How do I draw a dot?
To draw a dot, touch an intersection on the grid and then lift your finger.

* How do I draw a line?
To draw a line, touch multiple intersections continuously and then lift your finger.

* Why should I enable "Device Administrator"?
Enabling "Device Administrator" can lower the chance that this app is being maliciously uninstalled, and therefore can provide a higher level of security. This is optional.
