This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Beacon SMS on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

A simple app that does what it says on the tin, and reliably. It's easy to set up, and would be enhanced by a scheduling function to allow messages to be sent, say, every 15 minutes in the background. This would be a useful safety feature when taking part in outdoor activities (particularly where data network coverage is poor) or working alone, so keeping others up to date with your location without intervention.

About this app

Beacon SMS enables you to quickly send your location in an SMS message to a preset group of recipients all at the touch of a widget.

WARNING! Beacon SMS uses your phone to send SMS via your carrier/network. It may cost you money if you pay per SMS or you go over your monthly allowance!

Features

- by selecting contacts from your phone book.
