Who can use this app?

Only mobile subscribers of MTN Cameroon can use MTN Backup mobile application.

What does the app do?

MTN Backup mobile application allows you to back up your contacts, SMS, photos, music, videos and other files of your phone. If you lose your phone or need to migrate to a new phone, you can get your files restored. The MTN Backup mobile application also lets you share photos, videos and music with friends and family on social networks or via SMS link.


MTN Backup web site

Data backed up from MTN Backup mobile application can be viewed on MTN Backup web site at www.mtnbackup.cm. You can add, edit, search, view and delete contacts from MTN Backup web site.
MTN Backup web site also lets you import contacts from Yahoo, Gmail, LinkedIN, Facebook, vCard files and CSV files. When these contacts are imported to the MTN Backup web site then you can restore them on your phone through the MTN Backup mobile application installed on your phone.

Restoration / Migration

If you change your phone (either to an android phone, a Blackberry, a Java phone or an IPhone) or if your phone is stolen, just install MTN Backup mobile application (find Blackberry, Java and IPhone apps at www.mtnbackup.cm) on your new phone and restore your contacts and SMS on it. For your photos, music, videos and files, go to www.mtnbackup.cm with a PC/Mac web browser or set your mobile browser to desktop mode. Select all or some of your already backed up photos, music, videos or file and download them on the zip format. This way you save bandwidth and you import the photos, music, videos and files you want on your new phone while still keeping all your photos safe on MTN Backup web site.

Share your photos, videos and files
You can easily share your content with friends, family, colleagues or the public: Go to the backup section of the app and choose the file to share, then start the backup. Answer “yes” when you are asked if you want to share the file. The file will be backed up and the person you share with will receive a link (URL) to your file at www.mtnbackup.cm.

Privacy/Safe sharing
If you don't want the whole world to see your photos or videos, no worries!! You set the audience restrictions: Public, Private, or Custom (family, selected friends, etc,). If you don't want to share your photos/file with a given recipient any more, then you revoke the access by deleting its link from www.mtnbackup.cm.

Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.
Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.
Allows applications to access information about networks.
Allows an application to broadcast an SMS receipt notification.
Allows an application to broadcast a WAP PUSH receipt notification.
Allows an application (Phone] to send a request to other applications to handle the respond-via-message action during incoming calls.
Allows an application to receive SMS messages.

Allows an application to read the user's contacts data.
