Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing FieldPalFTP on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file directly into LDPlayer.

About this app

FieldPal is a tool which allows a user to check-in and check-out from a gps acquired location. The gathered information is sent to a specified remote location (FTP version). Data consists of the following fields:

[referencename] - field with a reference name for registered operation e.g. could be a nickname of person visiting the location, or a device name, etc.

[check out] / [check in] - keywords to distinguish operation type

[timestamp] formatted as ddMMyyyyHHmmss

[latitude]

[longitude]

[manuallocationdescription] - contains a manual description of approx. location (in case the GPS coordinates could not be acquired

All fields are sent in a CSV file as comma-delimited values in the following order:
[referencename], [check out] / [check in], [timestamp], [latitude], [longitude], [manuallocationdescription]

The CSV file is named using timestamp value, e.g. "ddMMyyyyHHmmss.txt"

The app doesn't track location continuously, all operations are executed when a user activates each operation manually.


MAIN MENU: Press and hold Start button to start, or press and hold Settings button to go to the settings screen.
