Works like a charm on my rooted phone. Simple and effective. A short while after you tap it all the new files that were still invisible after their creation by an app become visible in Windows Explorer or other file managers on Windows over a USB MTP connection. I don't even have to refresh (F5 in Windows) or anything. The files just pop up.

You need to root and also run sdfix. The people in Google: we'll never give up the sd card! Even if it means not installing your updates any more!

I tried more than a dozen of these apps and none of them worked at all on my Samsung Galaxy S5 mini running stock Android 4.4.2 (rooted). My use case: I often move/delete/add pictures and videos to different folders and the gallery app still shows thumbnails of non-existent images. A reboot will kick off the media scanner and update the gallery correctly. But I wanted to achieve the same thing without rebooting. This is the only app so far that works as expected. Just launch the widget, wait some time, reopen the gallery and all thumbnails are again in sync. Great work! Thank you very much! The only thing I don't understand is: Why a widget? It just uses space on my home screen and I can't use it like I could with a shortcut. I would appreciate very much if I could also have a simple shortcut (which I can use together with "multicon"). +1 star more for a shortcut.

But the widget size could be 1x1 instead of that annoying unnecessary size of 2x2. Without that size I'd give it 5 stars

Use this app to force re-scan media library at my SGS5. Without it the only way to make files appear in the gallery was to restart my device. Now vidget is 1x1 and looks nice, but big request to developer: please add possibility to install app in Apps, not only as widget.

Is useful for me as I often manipulate files via SFTP on my device and this confuses the media scanner. I would like to echo many other reviews in saying that I would like to be able to launch the process from an app and that the widget seems unnecessarily large.
