Useful app. It's the only screen off app I've found that doesn't lock the screen. It does have a bug though. If you change the orientation of the device immediately after using the app, the screen comes back on. I get around this using the Tasker app. I created a profile to lock AutoRotate for 30 seconds after the app has been launched.

So far, it is not working. Before I uninstall, I'll see if there's anything I can do about it. I've been looking for a way to do without the sign-in. This looked promising, but so far, my phone still locks after sleeping.

Like others have said, when auto rotate is on, the screen will go off, but then turn on again, if you rotate the phone within the next five seconds or so. This negates the hoped for convenience of the app. Please fix this problem.

It does the job and it is the unique to screen off without locking device. The behaviour of this new app compared to old one is somewhat different. It presents a bright blank screen before the dimmed and dark screen. This is a bit annoying. Another problem is that if you touch screen while powering off device it stops working (black screen) until screen timeout is reached. The worst in this case is that navigation bar is vanished and you will need to press and release power button twice to regain access to your device. I suggest that it keep Navigation bar visible until screen is off.

I'm using a Samsung a8 2018. App does exactly what it says it will do. Touch the on screen button and the screen blacks out. If you have auto rotate on and rotate the phone, as in putting it in your pocket, the screen will turn back on because it's off not locked. I have auto off as its a simple down swipe to tutn it on plus i use the phone at weird angles and unwanted screen rotations bug me.This app allows time out auto lock to lock your phone through the operating system so you can use the finger print scanner to unlock the phone, and this app to turn off the screen so you don't wear out your power button or burn in the software home button on the always on screen.

If phone has auto rotate on, activating this app, then rotating the screen will cancel the sleep operation. This is annoying when using this app, then putting phone in pocket, as chances are, that will rotate the screen and wake the phone up. Please fix?

About this app

Screen Off (No Lock) is an updated version of the original and very popular (100K+ downloads) Screen Off app. According to users of the original Screen Off app, this is the ONLY app that turns off the screen WITHOUT locking it. Users have said that there are a lot of similar apps out there, but that this is the only one that works for them.

Screen Off (No Lock) solves the Android Marshmallow fingerprint issue. It turns the screen off without interfering with security, leaving fingerprint unlock still working. No password, pin, or pattern is required in addition to the fingerprint with phones like the Galaxy S7, Nexus 6P, and others. Screen Off (No Lock) is also compatible with Google Smart Lock.

Screen Off (No Lock) is re-created from the ground-up to meet modern Android standards. Updates and improvements include:

* Black screen by default (instead of padlock image)
* Full-screen immersive mode for modern phones (no menu buttons)
* The ability to move to SD card
* A new MaterialUI icon design (with higher resolution for larger phones)
* Updated Android permissions checking (see below)

Before using, you will be prompted to give Screen Off (No Lock) the ability to change your system settings. This is because Screen Off (No Lock) does not use the same mechanism as other apps do to turn off your phone. Rather than locking your phone, it blacks out your screen and puts your phone to sleep as quickly as possible. This will NOT affect your default screen timeout display settings.
