Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing BeeCount Classic on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.
  2. Drag the APK/XAPK file directly into LDPlayer.

About this app

This is the old version of the application currently available as "BeeCount Knitting Counter". I originally wrote it as a an exercise to learn Android programming and subsequently received various feature requests, which I incorporated. Due to these and the fact that I didn't write it very well the codebase became rather unwieldy.

Although the new release is much better to use and maintain some people like the old version and so I have released it here as a separate application. There won't be any further development of this version and I recommend switching to the new one if you can. If you have already upgraded to the new version then you won't be able to import your data; please re-enter it manually.

One small change in this release is that alerts now only display once. Otherwise, it is as it was before the upgrade to version 2.0.

New features

This version is a repackaging of the old version of BeeCount, renamed to BeeCount Classic. Other than the new icon, background and alerts only showing once, it's the same as it used to be. It won't be updated any further - if you can, please use the new 2.0 release.
