You can save/download the photo to mobile storage or SD card storage-Photo Save/Saver will auto save photo for you and you can find photo downloaded in Picture folder->PhotoSaver. Very simple app and very small size.
Download was not possible from facebook for old android device ever.
[User Guide]
How to Use:

-For Facebook or Google+
1. From Facebook tap on photo -> menu -> share -> Facebook Photo Save (this app "Photo Saver")
2. The window of the app will open and give the user option to save the photo into mobile or continue share photo or set as...(Wallpaper, Lock screen walllpaper).
-For Chrome or other Browser
1. Long Press into image. Chrome will show dialog menu.
2. Choose Copy Image or Copy Image URL to Photo Saver auto handle load image
3. Save photo, Share Photo, Set as... photo that you want use.

[!Note]
To use for Browser. Photo Saver must enabled "Enable ClipBoard Photo Link" and Notification in "Play" Mode. To stop Photo Saver Monitor you can open app and disable "Enable ClipBoard Photo Link" or click on Notification "Pause"
