This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Travel Time and Delay Study on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

About this app

Do you need to conduct a quick travel time and delay study but don’t have an instrumented vehicle or simply you don’t want to go through the hassle of collecting data, downloading it to a computer, and then using a proprietary software to analyze the data? Why not use your cellphone or tablet? It already has a GPS and a touch screen which allows for an interface far more intuitive than dedicated hardware.

+ Turns your Android device into a tool for collecting the data required for conducting travel time and delay studies commonly used by transportation engineers.

+ Log latitude, longitude, speed, and distance along with a corresponding timestamp once per second.

+ Use two different interfaces: one for defining events using alphanumeric codes and another one for selecting pre-defined events such as driving through an intersection, a stop sign, etc.

+ Generate a CSV report containing the vehicle trajectory (speed, distance, latitude, longitude, timestamp) as well as the different events logged during the study.

+ Export the report via email or through an online storage service.

+ The CSV report can be opened by software tools such as Microsoft Excel, Open Office Calc, Notepad++, Google Tables, ESRI ArcGIS, etc). The use of Google Tables or ESRI ArcGIS is perfect since it allows mapping all the data collected for further analysis.

+ Worried about losing the data? No worries! All the data collected by the app is continuously stored so if your device runs out of batteries or you have any other unforeseen event, NO DATA IS LOST.
