The calculation mode is used if there is no orientation sensor on the phone or if you need to know the angle of sharpening that is difficult to measure (for example, a knife with wedge-shaped descents or an ax).

To calculate the height of the support for the desired angle, you must choose what to sharpen, specify the necessary dimensions and leave the field "Height of support" empty. When you click the Calculate button in this field, select the required height. All dimensions in the application should be entered in millimeters. The grinding angle must be entered as required, without additional division and multiplication.

To find out at what angle the knife is sharpened, paint the marker with its cutting edge and place the knife in the sharpener. Slightly hold the abrasive along the edge and see where the marker was erased. If the marker is pulled closer to the cutting edge, then the height of the support should be reduced. If you erased farther from the edge - increase. The exact angle will be when the marker is erased evenly over the entire width of the cutting edge. Now all you have to do is enter all the data in the required fields (leave the "Grind Angle" field empty) and click the Calculate button. In the field "Angle of sharpening" the required angle is displayed.

If you fill both the "height of the support" field and the field "Angle of sharpening", then the application will decide that everything is already known and will not calculate anything.
 
The measurement mode works only on phones equipped with an accelerometer. To set the desired angle on the sharpener, put the phone with the long side on the base of the sharpener and press the "Set 0" button. Then attach the phone to the guide and, adjusting the height, achieve the desired angle. If the indication of the correctness of the setting is turned on in the settings, the background of the field with the indication of the current angle will turn green. When measuring the angle, the phone does not need to be tilted to itself or from itself.
