The app won't even read the QR code it tells you to scan

This app doesn't work at all. It will not recognize my S9. There is serious problems with this app otherwise I think it would have a lot more downloads. I have tried for over an hour & a half to "discover" my android with no luck. I have it attached via usb, I have tried using the QR code. Nothing works!

How in the world did an app like this make it to the play store? I've never reviewed anything on the play store but oh boy I just had to. Crashing on launch at every attempt? For real!??
