Useful on Chromebooks to expose larger parts of the Android tree to ChromeOS apps. Due to exposing the local tree through the documents provider API, the tree appears in ChromeOS's Files app. The filesystem appears to be writable, too.

Not useful Sorry Ian but I can see no use for your app. Your app gave me the impression that I could use it in conjunction with another storage app, but if I can only read but NOT WRITE to external storage, WHAT IS THE POINT OF YOUR APP? I have now found that ES File Explorer can copy files from internal to external storage. Please let me know if I have misunderstood something.

On my Lenovo p1m with Lollipop I could never choose SD card as location to save files (for example open camera) because in the screen of the storage access framework the three dots in the right upper corner were just not there ( the "file picker"). Only built-in apps worked, example the standard camera). This app fixed it, now I can choose sdcard to save files! Thank you!!!

Can't upload anything to Chrome, not because of this app but because of some bug with this new storage access framework was hoping your app would fix that.

About this app

Local Storage uses the new Storage Access Framework to allow other applications to read or write any file in your primary storage and read from secondary external storage devices (such as SD cards). On Android 5.0+ devices, you can also select entire directories and rename files.

Note that this app is not meant to be used by itself (although we do provide some sample queries), but to be used to enable other applications access to files they would normally not be able to see - you shouldn't ever need to actually open this app!
