Clever design allows capturing the scene and associated value, and is straightforward to use.

Love it! Simple and easy to use. Would be happy to pay extra if there were a version with information linked in about what common house plants like (e.g. how much light in LUX is the "low light" necessary to keep an Elkhorn happy?). But given this app is available for FREE without ads, it's worth FIVE STARS from me.

Free, no ads, simple to use and gives a rough idea of light levels. Perfect for my plant related purposes.

ok works to measure light. but how do i interpret the results? would be much more useful with a scale/legend for "ideal light levels" for certain plants

Front camera only, I need to be able to use back camera to direct it to the light source, not to do a selfie with it. Please update option for 5 stars. Tnx.

Only gave a 0 reading on my Samsung, even after restart. Too bad.

About this app

A simple light meter, measuring in foot-candles or lux. Records the reading along with an image from the front-facing camera.

The prerequisite for plant health is light but when growing them indoors, light levels vary immensely. When the sun is shining directly on a plant, that's considered "direct sun", but the majority of your indoor plants prefer "bright indirect light". Without a light meter, it's difficult to judge what's bright and what's low in terms of indirect light. A light meter will help you put a quantity to an otherwise, subjective understanding of brightness.

Having the camera output shown at the same time will help you link what is in the physical environment to the brightness level.
