This app has totally failed me. I wanted to be a big nerd at the drag races & measure the sound level of the cars. I was standing no more than 30ft from the starting line and probably less than 20ft from the burnout line. The cars were loud enough to shake your insides, but the meter never went past 85.11dB. I guess this app works for quiet things and moderate noise but not for hearing damaging things. I'm disappointed.

Good that the app is free and ads are non intrusive, but I seriously question the accuracy of the app though, especially considering different models of device have different microphone configurations and calibrations. On my Samsung, 70db is probably closer to 85db. I know there is an option to change the calibration which is a good thought, but since dB is exponential, you can't simply add/subtract a set amount of dB.

It does a great job and it does as it says. I use it for many things. 5☆'s for that! I only wish I could see &/or save set parameters for a specific time/duration. ie) teaching a class. I'd like to know the decibel level at any given time btwn 2 set times. (Start/End if class).

This is a very useful app! Use this to protect hearing while listening to powerful stereo system. Loud enough, but not to loud! Used also to ensure each channel is putting out same volume to ensure in phase and balanced. Was surprised to learn how loud a vacuum cleaner is.

Works great with one BIG exception: it maxes out around 88 db. This is even when I know the level is exceeding 100 db. (As verified by a real audio meter) The main reason I downloaded this app was to check the actual levels in my car for example and in factories with excessive noise levels. Up to around 84 db it appears reasonably accurate.

Great app! I've relied on it plenty over the years to give me accurate results. I've used it for measuring sound decibels I'd like to mask while shopping for a white-noise machine, like YogaSleep's "Marpac Dohm Sound Machine," which I desperately needed to drown out barking dogs that keep me up at night. Or I'll use it when testing appliances out, like our dehumidifier I checked the noise level of before deciding to keep it.

Microphones in most android devices are aligned to human voice. The maximum values are limited by the device. Very loud sounds(over ~90 dB) may not be recognized in most device.
