A godsend. My phone is still Android 7 (Nougat), wasn't fortunate enough to get Android version updates at all by Xiaomi, and it haven't got any DNS over TLS functionality natively. I desperately needed it because my ISP is a huge jerk, redirecting and hijacking web requests for websites that they don't like (like Reddit and other sites), and forcing transparent DNS. This nullifies any of their hijacks and injections! This works flawlessly GREAT. Thank you so much!!!! 💓

Excellent. Many features to protect your device. One the BEST FREE security apps. NO ADS! DNS Servers are tested for speed and listed and we'll deceived so you can make the smartest choice. Very small, non invasive. Explains settings throughly. Thank you developers!

This app is great. It is well designed, makes it easy to switch DNS settings, has no ads and it is open source!! I truly appreciate the work from the developer on this.

I use custom DNS to cut back on tracking and ads. Android's Private DNS setting is very flawed on my devices, especially when turning on and off VPN. With Nebulo I can set up as many servers as I want and easily create desktop shortcuts to switch between my different DNS configurations.

Coming from quad9 app and after a few weeks of use I consider this app to be very mature, feature rich with no downsides. For lesser technical users - all defaults can be used without change, bravo Daniel Wolf!

Great concept. I've noticed Nebulo sometimes won't process any queries when running in non-VPN mode alongside NetGuard (F-Droid) and randomly stalls on reboots (Android 11). Other than that, it functions as described after restarting both apps

About this app

When navigating to a website known by it's name, say example.com, your device ask specific servers - DNS servers - how to address the website. DNS is an old protocol which, except for smaller changes, hasn't been touched since its creation in 1987. Naturally the Internet changed a lot in this time, rendering the protocol outdated in some of its core aspects.

This app tackles one of the bigger problems with DNS: Encryption.
Whilst nearly all traffic on the Internet is encrypted now, DNS requests (i.e. questions for a names address) and the response aren't. This enables attackers to intercept, read and modify your requests.

Nebulo is a DNS changer which implements DNS-over-HTTPs and DNS-over-TLS and DoH3 to safely send your DNS requests to the target server. This way only you and the DNS server are able to read the requests you are sending.

Core features:
- Configure the app once and then forget about it. After initial configuration it works fully autonomous
- No ads and no tracking
- Custom servers can be used
- Low battery consumption

This app is open source. The source code can be accessed from within the app.

New features

This is a stability update which fixes a few bugs and crashes.
