About this app

To use all the features of this program you must have a front camera and enable a location service.

After a configurable number of unsuccessful attempts to unlock the phone, the program will send an email to a previously specified account, notifying the security event. The email will also indicate the location of the cell at the time of the event and will forward, as an attachment, the picture taken with the front camera, that may help you identify who tried to unlock the phone.

The images recorded by this program are stored in the memory card directory Pictures/LockscreenSentinel. It is prudent to periodically perform a cleanup in this directory. The file name of each picture identifies the moment (date/time) when the picture was taken.

In the event of an unsuccessful unlock attempt, after the retry limit configured, the program will display a warning message on the mobile screen. This message can be customized. Note that for an access attempt be considered invalid, the password or the pattern supplied must have more than 3 characters or points.

NOTES:

- This app uses the Device Administrator permission. It needs this permission to be notified when someone types a wrong screen unlock password. The program does not change any configurations or security policies of your phone. Remember to uncheck this permission before uninstall the app.

- The program needs some permissions to be able to do its job. It needs administration privilege so that it can detect password typing failures on the lock screen, access to the camera to take the photo, access to the file system to record the photo, access to the location service to identify where the photo was taken and access to the Internet to send the email.

- If you choose to sign in so that the program uses your credentials to send the email, it will still need access to the Contacts, so that the program identifies your account and your email address.

- Before uninstalling this app you must uncheck the "Enable Sentinel" option to remove the device administrator privilege.

- If a data connection is not available at the time of sending the email, the email will not be sent, but the image will be saved in the phone.

- In some countries it is not possible to disable the camera shutter sound due to legal issues.

- If the proximity detection is on and if it is allowed more than one unsuccessful attempt to unlock the phone, the screen will flash quickly in the first unsuccessful attempt but the phone will not be unlocked. This is required to activate the proximity sensor.
