First of all if you have no issues during call do not touch it like I did. It created the issue which wasn't there before. Then to set it up properly I suggest not to cover the sensor with your finger like the app suggest but instead to put you phone on your ear like a normal phone call (you might need to leave a bit of a gap between your phone and your ear in order to be able to click the next button). It will then work flawlessly.

All my issues with black screens during calls are gone. New version has much improved UI and discoverability.

Thank you! The screen before this update was becoming black when answering a call or listening to a WhatsApp voice note, now it becomes black ONLY when you put the phone near the ear.

About this app

** Requires Fairphone OS 1.6.2 **

The built-in Proximity Sensor tool offers you a way to recalibrate the proximity sensor.

You should use this tool if you have trouble with the automatic management of your screen while in a phone call. The correct behavior for your screen is to turn off when your phone is close to your ear and turn back on when you move the device away from your ear.

The Proximity Sensor tool is available under to Settings → Maintenance → Proximity sensor.

New features

• Better proximity sensor behaviour, even if the screen is dirty or if there is dust behind the sensor lens
• Clearer status messages
• Consistent styling with other Fairphone apps
• Display of a dialog on incompatible devices
• Jump to the last screen if the device needs to be rebooted due to a previous calibration
