I've tried every dimmer I found, and this seems best! It's easy to use and gives you complete control over its color values. And while it mentions that Google's new security restrictions prevent it from dimming system areas like Notifications and the task switcher, I could swear those areas aren't as bright as with other dimmers. It shows just one small ad in its settings—which, unfortunately, often has a white background (anything you can do about that?). Otherwise, it's great—thanks!

I've used this for a year and is my go-to screen dimmer. But dang, why does it crash everytime? The screen goes back to its normal light and I have to go to the main app everytime that happens—even if it means I'm watching a movie from a site (now I have to check all the captchas again). Please fix this, it's nice really. Just the bugs.

Like most other reviews said this app is great at dimming the main screen, but fails with the notification bar and the pull-down notifications. Which I think is to make it easier to control the app thru the notif bar function But it still defeats the purpose cause it momentarily blinds you lol I also have the premium version, but it randomly crashes on me as well and, again, blinds the hell out of me ugh

It dims fine, but shaking for disabling does not, that made me uninstall. Because when it autostarts during bright daylight (a reboot or empty battery), my screen is too dark. I can't see my screen so I can't disable it. Until I'm in a darker environment. Or create one (looking silly with a t-shirt around my head and phone.) Perhaps a working "shake to disable" would persuade me to reinstall.

It does not put the overlay over the pull down notification bar when it's pulled down. Everything would be going great and then suddenly you open the notification menu and it blinds the hell out of you. Makes the app nearly unusable for me. It used to work perfectly on my galaxy S1. No longer great on emui. The auto stop function for manual timer does not work either.

Okay so this is a great app, but it crashes like every couple of minutes! And that's even worse than not having a screen simmer because it crashes out of nowhere, and the screen brightness goes back to the normal bright and kills the eyes. So please fix it you guys. Killing me.

About this app

Do your eyes feel tired when you read on your phone at night? Do you have trouble falling asleep after looking at your phone's screen for a long time? Night Owl might be the solution for you!

Night Owl filters out blue light and reduces the brightness of your phone's screen more than you can achieve with Android settings, which helps you avoid eye strain, insomnia (inability to sleep), and headaches when staring at your phone in the dark.

• Dim the entire screen, notification icons, and notification drawer
• Easily adjust the filter intensity in the app or from the notification.
• Filter the blue light or customize the tint color.
• Schedule the app to start and stop automatically via timer or sun scheduler.
• Shake the device to stop the app. (optional)
• Disable auto-brightness and lower device brightness to minimum automatically when the app starts. (optional)
• Use quick setting tiles to start or stop the app quickly.

Night Owl uses the "Display over other apps" feature to put a filter on the screen to make it darker than usual and/or change its color.

Beta feature: Night Owl uses Android's accessibility feature to display a tinted overlay over the screen (including notification and lock screen) to make it darker than usual and/or change its color. Night owl does not read your screen content and does not collect any data through the Accessibility service. You need to enable Night Owl Accessibility to use the app.

New features

• Now compatible with Android 12
• Sun timer bug fixed
