About this app

The LF Meter app is an Elpas mobile application solution for Android mobile devices based on Elpas Shield BLE tag technology equipped with special firmware. Specifically designed for Elpas LF installations, technicians can use the app to adjust their LF installation and LF power.

Installers simply attach single or multiple tags to a poll (wood or plastic) to measure the LF field density at various distances from the floor, wall or ceiling. This spares the installer from constantly climbing ladders or bending over to determine the LF emitters coverage or to search for LF noise. Elpas sees the combination of the tag and app as way to save you time in optimizing Elpas installations.

New LF Meter & App Advantages:
• Determine the range of an Elpas LF Beacon
• Identify penetration of LF signal through floor, ceilings and walls
• Find sources of LF noise (computers, phones, copiers, various devices and more) that greatly reduce an Elpas tags’ detection range of an LF beacon before and after installation

Technicians can pair up to five modified Shield BLE tags to one smartphone. Along with its factory ID, the app assigns each tag a unique ID. After a tag is paired with the app via BLE, it begins searching and relaying LF signal value and noise to the apps screen. When a valid Elpas LF ID signal is received, the ID and signal strength appear on the apps bar chart.

General Elpas LF Meter Testing Rules:
• Place the tag(s) at different heights on a wooden or plastic pole
• Use the tags located on different heights to check if the LF exciter covers the required area from top to bottom
• Place/Power: when an LF exciter signal is received in a different area other than the one defined, this is an indication of bleeding. The LF exciter power or placement should be changed to correct the bleeding
• Verify using a metal detector (or a standard market app) that the LF exciter is not installed near metal that could interfere with reception of the LF signal

Please note: the new LF Meter tag BLE replaces the older LF Field Meter (5-LFM00125).
